Five super superpeople according to geek comedy performer, Jason Zinger!

by Jason Zinger

We all have characters that stand out to us. They have been in our lives for many years or be more recent discoveries. No matter how long we’ve known them, though, one thing’s for sure… They hold a special place in our hearts.

This week, geek comedy performer and The Dandies’ musical director, Jason Zinger is giving us a peek into a few of the characters that have connected with him over the years. So here are Jason’s favourite superpeople…

Geek comedy performer, Jason Zinger’s list of top 5 superpeople

5. Gambit

Like most 80’s kids, I grew up watching the cartoon X-Men series where Gambit was a primary character. I don’t always know what it is about this character that I love. Maybe it’s because he’s Creole. Maybe it’s because he had the love, or at least interest, of Rogue. Maybe it’s because his power enables him to turn something into nothing. Either way, Gambit has always been and will always be one of my favourite superpeople.

4. Magneto

Man, this guy’s a badass. Can you imagine having control of all the metallic related things in the world? That’s mind blowing! I never really understood how he didn’t just bend all the buildings. Or take them apart and rebuild them upside down. I understood his story, the reason he did what he did. He’s the perfect antagonist.

3. Caitlin Fairchild

This one may seem random to a lot of you, but I read the Gen 13 comics in my teens. Caitlin was the leader of Gen 13. I grew up with a single mom, so I identified with a female leader. Caitlin is strong. Super strong. But also young and learning. She was my Wonder Woman.

2. The Joker

The craziest human of all time? Yes. They wouldn’t even let him into the Secret Society of Super Villains. He’s just that bad. He’s unhinged, unpredictable, unmoral, un-everything. He’s the worst of the worst. And that’s what make him the best of the best.

1. Wolverine

Wolverine’s always been my boy. He’s from the same province as me. He’s got that blue collar, rough attitude edge to him. He can kick some ass; but, when his ass gets kicked, he’s the master of getting back up to fight another day. It’s literally in his DNA. But there’s a sensitive side. Wolverine cares. He could very well have fallen in to the traps of being a villian, but he has this moral compass that he can’t deny.
