The Dandies cometh before the Pride (June 9, 2017)

Dandy Spock Thoughts – Josh Rivers

(Toronto, Ontario – for immediate release)
The Dandies return to Comedy Bar to help Toronto celebrate a month of Pride!

The producers and showrunners of Star Trek were notoriously behind the times when it came to LGBT rights. Things are slowly changing, with the update to Sulu’s character in Star Trek Beyond and the plans for Anthony Rapp’s character in Star Trek Discovery.

On the other hand, since Holodeck Follies inception, The Dandies have kept diversity and representation at the forefront.

Our next spontaneously created Star Trek episode of Holodeck Follies on Friday, June 9, 2017 is Spockabyebaby with host Hisham Kelati (stand-up, Joke Marmalade, Tight 5, Underground Comedy) and variety sketch comedy from Daughters of the Silk Rose.

Tickets: $15 at the door.
Comedy Bar – 945 Bloor Street West, Toronto ON (map)
Advance tickets ($10) through the Comedy Bar website ($1.25/ticket service fee).

“Holodeck Follies is one of the funniest shows in Toronto!” – Space Channel

The Dandies boldly go where no one has gone before: Holodeck Follies – Canada’s only Star Trek parody for Trekkies and non-Trekkies alike! The Dandies improvise a new Star Trek episode based on audience suggestion and interaction.

Holodeck Follies (S5E5: SpockAbyeBaby)

The USS Hummingbird explores a section of space where parallel universes intersect with the aid of the Federation’s favourite logical diplomat. Join the crew as they defend this discovery with pride against their worst enemies — themselves.

Previous Show Recap

In case you missed the last episode… (May 12, 2017)

We were joined by two amazing stand-up comedians, Jennifer McAuliffe and Aliya Kanani.

Four things that happened:

  • Commander Hunter’s mother tracked him down to reunite him with the estranged mail-order wife she got for him
  • 9 of 10 landed the Hummingbird on planet Earth so Captain Xerc could visit the Thompson and Ohmagosh families
  • Chief Field is in trouble with HR after an altercation with a new employee
  • Guy Guyson died again under mysterious circumstances

Laugh long and prosper!
