Happy Birthday Kate Mulgrew!

Hoping for the best, for our beloved Katherine Kiernan Maria “Kate” Mulgrew!

We enjoy your work Kate! You were a captivating and sassy Captain Kathryn Janeway for six years on Star Trek: Voyager. After a decade in the theatre, you’ve brought that back with even more depth and drama to your role as Galina, the former prisoner-kitchen boss in Orange Is The New Black.

As a side note: Since no one created a Captain Janeway Day (like Picard “celebrated”), I am starting the clock now to get the fires going to celebrate on May 20th — the fictional date for Kathryn Janeway’s birthday. I found a few dolls started that may or may not inspire us: Knit, Custom Barbie, Cubee.

As if a birthday present for Toronto, Kate will be in town this Friday.

May brings Emmy-nominated actress Kate Mulgrew (Star Trek: Voyager, Orange is the New Black) to the stage with her memoir, Born With Teeth, in conversation with the Globe and Mail’s Liz Renzetti.
